One of the most popular products in our newToronto-area showroom is wood paneling. Since we covered several display walls in various wood products, we’ve gotten rave reviews. If the phrase ‘wood paneling’ takes you back to ’70’s basement rec rooms, then you need to see what’s new. You just have to Google ‘barnboard’ to see how popular salvaged and reclaimed wood has become, for all types of interiors. Now, we have products that mimic barnboard, but are less expensive and easier to install. We also have more elegant walnut panels that have none of the rusticity of barnboard, and all of the sophistication that tailored interiors demand.
Rustic Wall Paneling
Wall Concepts wall paneling comes in 5 finishes, including Finland, shown above. It does a great job of mimicking barnboard without being too rough. Boards come all the same length and width– 46.75″ x 4.75″ — and 2 different thicknesses — .75″ and .56″. The tongue-and-groove format installs quickly and easily using 2-sided flooring tape and minimal finishing nails, due to its light weight. L-shaped trim pieces are available for edging along top, bottom and sides of feature walls.
Lounge wood paneling is a larger, heavier, rougher format for those who want to make a bolder, more rustic statement. It is also tongue-and-groove, but can be a bit more difficult to fit together. It requires both PL and finishing nails to install, due to its chunkier size. Lounge comes in 2 colours, including Bronze, shown above. Boards are 48″ x 6.5″, in thicknesses of .75″ and 1.25″. L-shaped trim pieces are also available in lengths of 96″.
Transitional Wood Paneling
Navaro wood paneling offers the texture and interest of barnboard, but in a slimmer profile and more eclectic format. Boards are all 3.75″ wide, in lengths of 24″ and 48″, and thicknesses of .25″ and .5″. There are 3 different finish colours in every box, to be randomized by the installer. These boards are not tongue-and-groove, but are stacked on top of each other. Installation is done with PL and finishing nails.
Contemporary Wood Paneling
Walnut wood paneling comes natural and tinted. Panels are 48.5″ x 9.18″ and are composed of smaller pieces of wood glued together, much like stacked stone panels. Thickness ranges from .375″ to .5″. They are installed with PL and finishing nails.
