It’s show time!  We just returned from Design & Construction Week in Las Vegas, where the International Builders Show and the Kitchen & Bathroom Industry Show were co-located. We walked over 1 million square feet of exhibit space, and toured 2 show houses, over 3 days. We saw eye candy and eyesores, and I’ve boiled it down to the trends I’m sharing below.

Navy Blue

Navy blue appeared on vanities, kitchen cabinets, sinks and tubs. Is Navy the new gray? Time will tell. We can tell you that Hale Navy is one of Benjamin Moore’s most popular paint colours.

Purple

Purple appeared mostly on sinks and tubs, in hues ranging from mauve to eggplant. Are you brave enough?

Sage Green

Sage green appeared in cabinets and glass sinks, as well as tiles. Do these colours give you a sense of deja-vu? We had every one of these colours in our home in the 1990’s.

Bold Tiles

Tiles were patterned, textured, and 3-dimensional. There wasn’t a plain white subway tile in sight.

Textured Walls

It wasn’t just tile that was making a statement on walls. Every other material was also very textural, from natural stone slabs to man-made materials (and the laminates were AMAZING!)

Gray & Gold

Gray was still very evident but it was often paired with gold hardware and fittings, or warm woods.
