If you’d love to have a fireplace, but space is at a premium, you need to look into wall-hung electric fireplaces. Wall-hung electric fireplaces are ideal for condos and apartments, where floor space may be limited. They are also perfect for rentals, because they don’t require construction and hang up much like a piece of art. Wall-hung electric fireplaces plug into a regular 120-volt outlet, so they can be installed anywhere that you have electrical power. Pro Tip: You can hide the wires by converting from a plug-in to a direct-wire connection. See a licensed electrician to do this.

Wall-hung electric fireplaces have all the features of other electric fireplaces:

  • You can operate the flames with or without the heater turned on;
  • Flames may change colours, from natural yellow and orange to other colours;
  • Flames are enhanced with accent lighting above or below the flames;
  • Built-in heaters will warm up an area of about 400 square feet, or more.

Below, we’ve curated a collection of the best wall-hung electric fireplaces currently available.

Vertical Wall-hung Electric Fireplaces

The most compact wall-hung electric fireplaces have a vertical orientation, rather than being linear. This means that they can fit into very tight spaces.

Napoleon Allure vertical electric fireplaces: NEFVC32H, NEFVC38H

The Allure wall-hung electric fireplaces come in 2 heights – 32-inches tall and 38-inches tall. Both come with clear crystals, and the 38-inch also comes with birch logs. These fireplaces are designed to be hung on the wall surface, or partially installed into the wall space between studs that are spaced 16-inches apart. There are glass panels on both sides, with accent lighting to wash the sides in colour. Flames are yellow, orange and blue, or any combination of these. Heat is vented from the top, and washes down over the front glass from a hidden grille above the glass. When hung on the surface of the wall, the fireplace projects out 8.5 inches.

Amantii Cube vertical electric fireplace: 2025WM

The Cube is also a 3-sided electric fireplace. Its overall depth is 11.75 inches, which means there is more glass at the sides, for viewing from all angles. It is designed to be wall-hung only; it may not be installed into the wall. It comes standard with a medium oak log kit, and other media kits are available. Flames may be yellow, orange or red. The flames are enhanced with overhead accent lighting in 11 colours. The Amantii Cube is also rated for indoor and outdoor use, so it may be installed in pool houses, gazebos or porches.

3-Sided Wall-hung Electric Fireplaces

No one wants a wall-hung electric fireplace that creates a visual barrier at the sides of the fireplace. It’s far more appealing if the sides of the wall-hung fireplace ‘disappear’, as they do when there is glass on the ends. Napoleon makes several 3-sided wall-hung electric fireplaces that create this effect.

Napoleon Astound Flexmount 3-sided electric fireplaces: NEFL50AB, NEFL60AB, NEFL74AB

Flexmount, as the name suggests, has flexible installation options, one of which is wall-hung. Its overall depth is just 7.125-inches, with 2.5-inches of glass on both ends. That’s just enough glass to lighten the overall appearance of the fireplace. The included media kit includes large logs plus amber glass and stones. Flames are orange and yellow, with accent lighting from above, as well as accent colours below the flames. Astound Flexmount also has an extra-tall 23-inch profile with 18-inches of viewing glass. Like the deeper built-in Astound, Flexmount is dual-voltage. It may plug in to a regular 120-volt outlet, or it may be hardwired for 240 volts, which boosts the heating output. This is an unusual feature for a wall-hung electric fireplace.

Napoleon Trivista Pictura 3-sided electric fireplaces: NEFL50H-3SV, NEFL60H-3SV

Like Flexmount, the Pictura is a slimmer wall-hung version of the built-in Trivista Primis. At just 6.5 inches deep, the Pictura is purpose-built to be wall-hung. It is finished nicely on the top and sides and may only be wall-hung. The front glass is tilted back at the top, allowing heat to wash down over the glass and into the room. Flames are yellow, orange and blue, with accent lighting shining down from the top and up from the bottom. The included media kit is clear crystals, with optional log kits available. Pictura plugs into a regular 120-volt outlet, and will warm up a space up to 400 square feet.

Slim Linear Wall-hung Electric Fireplaces

In addition to electric fireplaces that are designed to be wall-hung, there are also a few linear fireplaces that may be hung on the wall surface, although they are primarily designed to be inserted into the wall. Sometimes, you just prefer the flame effects on one of these fireplaces, and don’t want to compromise. The downside is that the sides of these fireplaces are not finished in a way that is meant to be on display, as the other wall-hung fireplaces noted above.

This type of fireplace may be an advantage when you are working in stages. Perhaps you plan to build out a wall or a cabinet to install an electric fireplace into the wall, but the plan has been delayed. In this case, you can purchase a slim linear fireplace that may be wall-hung in the short term, then insert it into the wall once that wall has been completed. This has the advantage of creating a focal point, and potentially adding heat, while you wait for the final project to be completed.

Napoleon Entice slim linear electric fireplaces: NEFL36CFH-1, NEFL42CFH-1, NEFL50CFH-1, NEFL60CFH-1, NEFL72CFH-1

Napoleon Entice has an overall projection of 5.5 inches and offers 10 flame colours as well as ember-bed colours. The standard media kit is clear crystals, and optional log sets are available.

Amantii Symmetry: SYM-34, SYM-42, SYM-50, SYM-60, SYM-74, SYM-88, SYM-100

Symmetry has an overall projection of 6.25 inches and offers 3 flame colours as well as ember-bed colours and overhead accent lighting. The standard media kit is oak logs, and other options are available.

Modern Flames Spectrum Slimline: SPS-50B, SPS-60B, SPS-74B

Spectrum Slimline has the slimmest overall projection, at 4.75 inches deep, and offers 10 flame colours as well as ember-bed colours. The standard media kit is driftwood and tinted glass pieces. Most other logs will not fit into this unit.

Summary

As you can see, there is no shortage of wall-hung electric fireplaces to complete your project.
